2016 Budget favourites

2016 budget favourites What a year 2016 was! For so many, 2016 will be chalked down as one to forget. It was the year that saw a multitude of celebrity deaths. World politics went a little of track and there seemed like there was a lot of personal heartache on my timeline.  However, for me, 2016 was one of the best yet. As 2016 was the year I became a mammy! I am sure you’ve heard it again and again, but there really is nothing that can prepare you for the love you feel for a tiny human. Even the sleepless nights are manageable, as you’re getting up to feed the tiny person you made and love!

For me, 2016 wasn’t my most adventurous when it came to makeup. The first half of the year I was feeling like a beached whale and the second half  I found myself  grabbing minutes here or there to apply my face. I try to apply makeup as much as I can, as it makes me feel a little more human! However, I did find that when I did put makeup on, I was far more critical with the products I used than normal. With having a small baby, I don’t have time to spent ages on my makeup like before. Now, if a product doesn’t perform for me after two or three uses, it ends up on the scrap heap!

With that in mind, I found I was a lot more focused on what it was that I wanted from a product. No matter if it was a foundation, eyeshadow or lipstick that I was using, they needed to be easy to apply, long wearing and for the most part, wearable when it came to colours. Like most people, I don’t have the time in the day anymore for experimenting with makeup to create extravagant looks. I need my makeup to work for me on a day to day basis.

At the beginning of 2016, I made a decision to try and include more budget products in my routine. I have a tendency to reach for the more expensive products, not out of makeup snobbery, but rather I hadn’t found a lot of affordable products that worked for me. That was until this year. I have found a number of gems that have ended up in my daily routine.

If you want to see the full run down of my favourite affordable products, have a look at the video below . Don’t forget to let me know in the comments section on Youtube what you think.

Sinead I really enjoyed your post on the budget particularly the coco brown shampoo & conditioner as my 12 year has sensitive scalp an always looking out for good products for her. Also she’s showing an interest on make up an it’s good to know about good products dat are reasonably priced.
